‘By Phoebe’ encompasses a range of creative projects by me, Phoebe, that are anchored in creativity, seasonality and storytelling.
My background as an art teacher and my rural childhood have fuelled my desire to work outside, engage in creative projects and share these experiences with you.
We live just outside Greymouth with our three small children and a menagerie of animals on 2 acres. Here, I have a created a cut flower field in what was previously a coastal sheep paddock, now early in its second season and well populated with bees, butterflies and lots of soil life.
From my field I offer locally grown, seasonal FLOWERS to order as well as event florals, bespoke arrangements and flower subscriptions. I also have a little roadside Flower Shed, stocked with bunches on the weekends for you to drop by and pick up a small bunch of seasonal sunshine.
I am also a qualified marriage CELEBRANT and can work with you to design and officiate your personalised ceremony.
The flowers inform social, creative WORKSHOPS for adults including wreath making, botanical drawing, painting and flower arranging. These experiences go perfectly with a couple of other things that I love - a glass of wine and a group of friends! Through these, I take the inspiration, organising and expertise off your hands and provide space for a relaxed, fun, creative experience with your friends or workmates.
My work as a practicing artist is influenced by the landscapes around me and the seasonality which effects our experiences of moving through these spaces. A collection of recent monoprints informed by local landscape is linked to my PAINTING page.
My involvement in designing and painting MURALS is fuelled by a love of project-based, creative story telling at scale. These projects are always really fun challenges and evolve in unexpected, interesting ways depending on the site and who is involved. The opportunity to re-invigorate a space, generate new interpretations of a story and inspire fresh ways for people to interact with their surroundings is so unique and exciting.
